My Blog's goals

What I want to achieve in my blog is to express myself and share what God is teaching me, share my thoughts my hopes and dreams. To share my poems that God gives me and declarations that I learn that I think will help others on their journey to freedom. What I want to do is to encourage others to be the son or daughter that God has called them to be. I am studying a Leader Development Programme Year 1 through Global Legacy through Bethal Church in Redding California. I want to help set people free to help them in their journey of discovery. I have battled depression for many years and have been on medication for many years. I have been able to lower my dose by half and I am looking forward to the day that I am free from medication and are well emotionally I believe that can and will happen.

About Me

Hi my name is Darlene (De) by my friends.

I am a mother of two beautiful girls Kylie and Melissa. I have four amazing grandchildren Amber, Lucas, Bella and Catherine.

My journey of discovering who God says I am started last year, when I joined a Firestarters course through my church Richmond Community Church where I have fellowshiped for 24 years.

In that time I was married and had two daughters Kylie and Melissa. I joined a drama group that was running in our Church run by Anton, who encouraged me to grow in God's love, he taught my Husband of the time about prayer principles and encouraged my talent of acting at that time. In time the group broke down and in time so did my marriage which was not related to the drama group breakdown. In 2002 my marriage fell apart and so did my life, our daughters were 13 and 11 years old when this happened. It affected us all, my girls were hurting and I was now in deep depression and full of anxiety.

I did a care giver course over a year at night and made some new friends but I was alone. I don't want to depress anyone who maybe already dealing with depression or any form of mental illness. I decided to do some part-time Bible courses through Bible College of New Zealand (now Laidlaw College). They had a campus in Richmond in our old Church Building I started with a Diploma in Biblical Studies and progressed into doing a Bachelor of Ministries.

I meet Mark my husband in 2010 who was helping a friend with a laptop issue, we met again in early July that same year. Mark text me and we talked on the phone, txt and built a good friendship up. I invited Mark to be my date at my daughter Mel's wedding Tony my ex was going to be there, I loved Mark by that stage and we started on the journey towards marriage.

For mental health issues and not coping at the higher level of study I graduated with my Diploma. That night I got my engagement ring and we got married on the 14/04/12.

My church attendance wasn't that great I had suffered a emotional breakdown and was offended. Not such a great start to our marriage but we are both overcomers and we have stuck together. This brings me back to the beginning of my introduction I attended a Firestarters course and my life has changed so much I am like a different person in some areas.
